A 10-point preparation checklist for the engineering exit exam

Ten things worth doing before the engineering exit exam, in the order they matter. Run down the list and tick them off; nothing here needs an expensive course or an all-nighter.

Before you start

• Confirm the current format and timing for your discipline from the official standard, not from a friend.
• Pick one start date and a daily goal small enough that you will actually keep it.
• Put your resources in one place, so starting takes seconds rather than minutes.

Each week

• Cover new concept areas, and mix two or three subjects per session instead of blocking one.
• Re-answer, from memory, everything you missed the week before.
• Add one short timed set per week once you are past the first fortnight.

The final week

• Sit at least one full timed mock and review it for twice as long as it took.
• Stop adding new material; consolidate what is already there.

On exam day

• Read each question fully — the stem usually names the method it wants.
• Answer, flag, and return; never spend more than about two minutes on one item.
